Step 1: Secure Admission to a Licensed UK Institution
Your journey begins with acceptance into a UK university or college approved by the Home Office under the Student Route (formerly Tier 4). In 2025, All universities by then must issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)—a digital document that would have a unique reference number. Ensure your course comes within visa eligibility levels (e.g. full-time degree, English language course, or research program).

Step 2: Meet Financial Requirements
You must provide a financial document to prove you can cover tuition fees and living costs. For 2025, the financial thresholds are:
- £1,334 per month for studies in London (up to 9 months).
£1,023 per month outside London.
Find out your total needed funds (tuition fees + living expenses) and provide evidence through bank statements, scholarships, or sponsorships. The funds should be in the bank for more than 28 consecutive days before making the application.

Step 3: Demonstrate English Language Proficiency
You’ll have to pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) approved by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). Accepted tests in 2025 include:

- TOEFL iBT (reintroduced in 2023).
- PTE Academic UKVI.

Step 4: Required Documents

Step 5: Apply Online

Step 6: Attend a Biometrics Appointment

Step 9: Receive Your Visa and Prepare for Travel
After approval, a vignette (sticker) will be affixed to your passport. You need to collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) within 10 days of arriving in the UK.
In 2025, certain nationals are now issued with a digital BRP which is linked to the passport.
Post-Study Opportunities
